Customized TRAINING for those who want:

  • the focused attention of a one-to-one ratio
  • a tailored program designed to achieve your goals
  • a personalised program designed to address special needs such as rehabilitation, disease, disability

Personal training focuses on using equipment designed by Joseph Pilates, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrels, Pedi-Pole, Foot Corrector, but can also be designed to include Mat, Magic Circle, Hand Weights, Bean Bag and other exercises. No prerequisite Mat sessions are required to begin work with the equipment. In fact, a few equipment sessions provide a good basis for mat work by helping you to isolate the muscles targeted by each mat exercise in supported positions. If difficulty or rehabilitation are factors for you, it is best to start on the equipment.

Equipment
The Pilates equipment was designed by Joseph Pilates and is built according to his specifications. A studio could be equipped with the Cadillac, Reformers, Chairs, Small Barrels, Spine Correctors, Spine Supporter, Floor Mats, Pedi-Pull, Magic Circles and other Pilates props. Using the principle of resistance rather than weight bearing, the movements were all designed to strengthen one muscle group while the opposing group is lengthened. This promotes proper realignment and the long lean muscles characteristic of those who practice Pilates.

The equipment can be used in private or “Duet” sessions at every level of performance, rehabilitative, beginner, intermediate, advanced and very advanced (elite athletes), without pre-requisite mat work.

Machine work provides an excellent complement to the work done in group classes. It can improve your mat work out by helping you to isolate the muscles targeted by each exercise in supported positions. They are especially recommended for people who wish to incorporate the Pilates Method into their rehabilitation regime.
